Brief
Mixed Media: A technique involving the use of two or more artistic media, painting and collage that are combined.
Social Justice: is about preventing human rights abuses and ensuring adherence to international law.
Focus: Issues of minority groups, especially international justice; poverty; women's and children’s issues. International justice particularly refers to war crimes and crimes against humanity, including genocide.
Topics: Social, Cultural, Political, or Environmental injustices
STEP ONE: LOOK at the list of artists given to you – “Artists Who Incorporate Social Justice Themes” or research according to the chosen theme.
STEP TWO: RESEARCH one artist whose work involves a Street Art/Social Justice/Environmental Issue and complete the questions on the attached sheet – “Researching Street Art/Social Justice/Environmental Issues in Art” by CHOOSING one artwork by the artist to answer the questions on.
STEP THREE: Develop a series of at least 3 different possible concepts incorporating a Street Art/Social Justice/ Environmental Issue. REMEMBER: Have your concepts approved by the teacher before starting on canvas board. WRITE your Artistic Statement Template to document your artistic process.
STEP FOUR: CREATE your final art piece by painting and using mixed medias
to create your Street Art/Social Justice/ Environmental Issue mixed media work.
